Amy Michano

M.Ed., OCT.

Miigizi Miigwanese naadishnakaaz, Biigtigong doonji, Makwa dodem. Amy is currently in her 11th year teaching with Biigtigong Nishnaabeg Endzhi-gkinoohmaading. She is the Kindergarten teacher and Vice Principal for the Biigtigong Private High School. Amy has a Masters of Education in Indigenous Land Based Studies from Lakehead University. Her capstone focus for her Masters was integrating STEM education into Indigenous teachings, storytelling and culture of the Anishinaabe people.  Amy holds a specialist in Integration of Information & Communication Technology from McMaster University.

Amy has lived her entire life in Northwestern Ontario, working with High School and Adult Learners across Ontario in different Education Projects. Was part of the Top 5 finalist team for the SMARTCities Canada competition in 2019. She is an avid traveler having visited many corners of the earth but home will always be Biigtigong.
