Katriina Butschler is a non Indigenous educator who has been teaching in the community of Biigtigong Nishnaabeg for 9 years. She was born and raised in Thunder Bay, Ontario and now resides in Biigtigong with her fiance. Throughout her years as an educator, she has taught numerous grades and subjects, spanning primary to junior ages. As an educator, one of her main priorities is working with Knowledge Keepers, community members and Elders to facilitate experiences that help to fill the classroom with language, culture and traditional teachings. She is a big proponent of the land as a teacher, and spends as much time outside of the walls of the classroom as possible! During her downtime, Katriina can usually be found enjoying a good book, or on the land with her fiance and dog, fishing, hunting and paddling.
